A very unusual setting - a converted ancient water mill - is one of the charms of this restaurant/theatre combined. That's why we've included it although it's slightly out of our area. A typical visit will start with some drinks at the bar (watch your head), followed by a meal, served cafeteria style (queuing to be served). Food is fairly basic English fare but well presented and tasty. After a dessert (served at your table) the production starts in the theatre itself. The small stage is surrounded by seating covering a half circle - an intimate setting. Comedies are the usual plays to be performed. The building opened as a dinner theatre in 1982; it's the only theatre in the UK that has received no subsidies or grants. A very different evening, worth trying. Price guide - £30.50 for an evening weekday performance, £24.50 for Saturday matinee, £35.50 for Saturday evening. Prices include 2 course meal, coffee, the play, a programme and use of the car park.

Absolutely fantastic. I'd never heard about it before going but had a wonderful evening. The farce was very funny although rather obvious jokes. Food was good quality although it was canteen style. Like the fact that you return to your table for interval drinks. Will definitely be going back and have already recommended to a number of friends.
