Gazing around you can see that a large amount of money has been invested in the building after Antonio's (the previous restaurant here) closed in May 2000. Jonathans opened in June 2001, the improvements and extensions include smart polished wood flooring, low key lighting, a disabled toilet downstairs and some smart toilets upstairs with very unusual blue glass bowls as wash hand basins. There's seating for around 100, a minority of these are in an intimate section upstairs - arranged in an atrium style overlooking the entrance area.

Italian cuisine. Starters include garlic bread at £1.45 and bruschetta al funghi at £3.40. For main course try the spaghetti bolognaise at £6.25 or the 4-seasons pizza at £6.95. All well cooked and served by pleasant and plentiful waiting staff. Remarkably reasonable prices - to finish there's a lovely tiramisu at £3.50 and cappuccino at £1.50. Italian bottled beers on offer.
