Work has now started on the creation of Maidenhead's newest development, the cinema complex at Grenfell island. See the initial announcement for details of the proposals.

Here are some shots of the work, taken in June 1999.

Above: Cranes move in to start the foundations for the cinema.

Right: A shot of King Street, looking towards the station, you can just see a train approaching the station on the bridge in the left middle distance and the top of the Clock Tower just in front. The large building on the right is occupied by Cincom. Until recently there were shops (previously houses) on the right hand side of the road.
