The much-discussed chicanes on Ray Mead Road are to be removed. The chicanes, installed earlier this year, are not popular as they force traffic towards the centre of the road, into the path of oncoming traffic. Ray Mead Road runs parallel with the River Thames and is a popular route for pedestrians enjoying the river and the nearby Boulters Lock.
At a Royal Borough Group Meeting last night a decision was made and they are definitely going to disappear.
However, proposals for the replacement are not yet ready.
