This attractive building looks more up-market than it actually is. Inside a small bar area takes second place to the large dining area with around 20 tables surrounded by burgundy coloured walls and some display units showing fishing artefacts and knot styles. There is a large choice on the menu - starters include soup and main dishes like steak, also Bangkok chicken curry at £7.95 and duck in a gorgeous plum sauce at £9.50. Food was served piping hot, the vegetables with the duck perfectly cooked. Desserts around £3.50. Lunchtime food available too. A real fire adds to the warm atmosphere in winter. In the summer try the large garden. Morland Original and Ruddles beers served at the bar. No games machines, very quiet contemporary background music.
