Unusual place this one - a restaurant only by name and licence. The ticket you get on entry states TO COMPLY WITH OUR LICENCE, THIS TICKET MUST BE USED. Go in and your entrance fee (normally £5 before midnight and £7 after) entitles you to a very basic meal. There is a small area with tables and waitress service, the whole place has an American feel.

The remainder of the area though is given over to drinking tables, 2 bars and - most importantly - a dance floor and stage. There is live music on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights which are the only nights it opens. Being a restaurant of course, it can serve drinks until everybody has stopped eating..... Very popular and well worth a visit, though it can get very crowded. Used to be called The Silver Skillet Restaurant, regularly hosting The Searchers in the 1960's.

Spit and sawdust but always good for a laugh.
