Pizza Hut used to be at the Eastern end of the High Street in Maidenhead. In December 2000 they moved to a new location next to the cinema in King Street - in fact it's part of the same physical building as the new cinema. The purpose-built restaurant therefore has a very modern design and layout, and some excellent facilities. For example, there's a disabled toilet, high chairs for children, a baby change facility and a no-smoking dining area. The food range covers pizzas of all sizes and types (around £5.99 for a pizza for one), the usual salad bar, and take-aways too. Whilst it may be a national chain, don't be quick to ignore this restaurant. Our visit was enhanced by the best service we have experienced in months. Despite there being a queue of people at the door, this was quickly dispensed with and we were shown to a clean and tidy table. Our waitress Veronica immediately offered drinks, which arrived in less than 2 minutes. Our food order was taken swiftly and courteously, too - and the food was hot and tasty. There's a free refill for soft drinks - unusual considering the big mark-up on fizzy drinks. Bottles of Stella are £2.45. Expect to pay around £20 for starters, main courses and drinks for 2. Our one criticism would be that the music system played its pop a little too loud during our visit; there were some families in there who would probably not appreciate this. Even considering that though, Pizza Hut gets a big thumbs up - if you're in a pizza-type mood this is an excellent choice of restaurant, with some outstanding service. Recommended. Open 11.30am -11.00pm every day except Friday and Saturday when they open half an hour earlier. |
