The usual Pizza Express mix of classy modern furniture and jazz music greets you as you enter this medium size restaurant on the corner of Bridge Street and Bridge Avenue. The corner plot calls for two sides to face the street - the designers chose floor to ceiling glass which creates a striking effect, though can make diners feel like goldfish. No carpet and high ceilings means the sound bounces around and it can get very noisy during busy periods. Real flowers on the tables and modern art on the walls add to the overall effect. The chain of restaurants was founded in 1965, this one was opened in 1998 and is one of 243 in UK and Ireland (June 2000 figure). They serve a standard menu of thin-base pizzas, which are generally well made and presented. Small sweet selection. Child-friendly - high-chairs available.
