A small stone-floored pub with low ancient-looking beams and brickwork, a good bar menu and traditional decor. Lots of dark wood, horse brasses and a restaurant style area round to the right. Stools and a television in the bar. Friendly staff. The restaurant area is cosy with around 12 tables and also popular presumably because of the value - 3 courses for £12.95 on Sundays. Choice of 7 starters (including soup, prawn cocktail and melon with port but we recommend the smoked salmon rarebit) and 5 main dishes including roasts. Desserts include Mississippi mud pie. One downside is that the menu is always the same on Sundays. Roll and butter included, along with friendly service from young staff. A conservatory extends the eating area out the back. Beers include Abbot Ale. No garden, small car park. Recommended.
