Improved in summer 1999, this place has a small garden front and rear and looks smart from the outside. It is now mainly a restaurant and one worth visiting too. Rugged floors and rustic warm coloured walls make an attractive atmosphere. Chart music plays, though only softly. Candles on the tables and attentive service add to the atmosphere. Smoked salad and mushrooms with cheese on panicelli bread amongst the starters, around £3.95. Pasta dishes amongst the main course choices, around £8.25. Sweets from £3.75. Owned by Scottish and Newcastle retail. The Jolly Gardener has been sensitively improved and is worth a visit.
