Beautifully coloured fish stare at you from a large tank as you walk into this Chinese restaurant on the High Street. Mirrored walls and a bare floor can make the atmosphere rather noisy, but that is one of the restaurant's charms. You get what you see here - a good choice of food served promptly and always hot by efficient waiting staff. The Jasmine Peking has been owned by the same people for years and this is a popular way to spend an evening. The menu includes traditional Chinese dishes like chicken and sweetcorn soup, crispy duck, sweet and sour prawns and lemon chicken. Not cheap, but if you want a decent meal in the town centre you won't be disappointed. Take away available too. On 5 April 2000, RDH comments: Jasmine deserves a recommendation as town centre restaurant, excellent Chinese food, good value set menus. Anon comments on 30 November 2000: Would like to add that it is as good as described (and good value for money). Sidney Whitford writes on 10 December 2000: Good food, good value, great atmosphere but let down by the toilets. Dai Waters writes on 2 August 2002: Please note that the Jasmine Peking has installed very expensively tiled new toilets which corrects one of your previous commentator's comment. The food and service remain excellent - the best Chinese in Maidenhead! |
