Right by Cookham station, this pub changed hands in early 2001. Now a restaurant with a contempary Indian cuisine - see The Gandhi. This comment relates to its time as a pub: John Brooks writes on 21 January 2001: Just to say, that your comments about the Cookham Tavern being nothing outstanding... its true It is a locals pub. I'm a local so I must declare an interest. I like it but then most of my drinking friends are in there. They do have the most amazing Jazz every Thursday, and that is well worth a visit and certainly noteworthy. No charge but you are asked (not under duress) to buy a raffle ticket. Foods gone off in recent months but beers good as ever as is the company. (I would say that....) Decor is still as dull as ever but then I dont go in there for decor appreciation, does anybody? Its likely to change hands soon and this could be a change for the better. |
