This pub re-opened on Friday 1 September 2000. The owners, Punch Retail (Managed) Ltd, are presumably hoping to catch cinema goers as they move to and from the nearby cinema - with a half million pound refit. This pub also had a new look back in February 1998 - it was turned into a Mr Q's (lots of pool tables) owned by Allied Domecq. Used to have an unfortunate reputation for drugs and violence. Punch Retail bought a large part of the Allied Domecq estate last year including this site.

Punch Retail have changed the name to simply Q's and it certainly looks smarter from the outside - with a few tables in an outside area. Inside, much of the floor area is used by the eight pool tables. It also has a variety of games machines, and the pub has a look of a youth club in places. The beer we tried was poor. The menu (available all day) includes pizzas, sausages and chips, scampi and chips, haddock and chips and a bucket of chicken and chips. Used to be a hotel many years ago, occasionally staging jazz musicians.

Eto Demerzel writes on 8 January 2003:

Gent's toilets should never be assumed to be in working condition. Friendly staff, mind.
