This small pub can be easily missed as it's just off the main A4 road, Ray Street is on the left as you drive towards Slough. Tony Bridge comments on 9 January 2001: This is a very small pub - almost just a private house - and you get the feeling of gate-crashing a private party when you walk in. The beer is average, and food is essentially Rolls of various kinds. But for all that, if you're in the vicinity and don't want a river view and the price hike that goes along with it, The Ark is a fairly quiet spot for a quick after-shopping pint (thankfully, it's on my route back home from the town centre!). The loos are the among the best in Maidenhead, with tied-back curtains and real flowers in the Gents! Denis Bovney writes on 11 January 2001: Pub is on a corner site in late Victorian terrace. Two small interconnected bars. Courage Best on handpump (well kept when visited early Jan 2001). Worth a visit to see relief murals on the doors leading from bar to toilets. Recently redecorated. SMD writes on 10 June 2001: The Ark is a warm and friendly pub. The landlord obviously takes pride in his pub beer - no better recomendation is possible. |
